Project Summary
Gravity Axis is a 44,000 square foot, single story warehouse, which will provide mission support operations spaces for the National Security Agency (NSA) at Ft Meade in Maryland. The facility will be comprised of warehouse space, administrative space, a warehouse vault, hazardous material storage, loading docks restrooms, break room, and mechanical and electrical, secure and unsecure telecommunication spaces. The new facility is to be located at the current location of Building 9703 at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Additionally, the facility will be constructed as a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Acting as the Mechanical Trade Partner and Engineer of Record, KDB has been integral to the project for the initial RPF stage through the Award and Design. Utilizing the mechanical design process and multi-trade collaboration to drive innovation early and leveraging that knowledge to increase construction efficiency and decrease project budget.
In addition to the mechanical and plumbing design and calculation efforts, KDB has also completed the preliminary building energy modeling in support of code compliance and LEED certification. All the building systems are being designed and coordinated in 3D using Autodesk Revit software to perform preliminary clash detection and ultimately develop a multi-trade coordinated design.
