Project Summary

The 2300 Crystal Drive project is a 525,000 square foot core and shell office building in the conceptual design phase for JBG Smith. The project consists of a main entry lobby and 24 levels of core and shell office space, with associated meeting spaces and other tenant amenities.

JBG and Hensel Phelps have elected to involve KDB very early in the project’s development to ensure an efficient design and construction process.  They can trust the mechanical scope and budget will be properly managed by KDB.  And anticipate the systems selection and sizing will continue to produce a cost effective design-build solution.

As the design build mechanical engineer of record, the KDB engineering team will work with the client, architect and other consultants to develop the full building HVAC, piping and plumbing system design.  The pre-developed design provides a flexible, cost effective, and energy efficient system that can accommodate a wide variety of tenant uses.

KDB will also completed all the preliminary building energy modeling in support of a LEED rating goal for the building. All the building systems were designed and coordinated in 3D using Autodesk Revit software to complete preliminary clash detection to develop a multi-trade coordinated design.
